De-clutter your closet!

Hello,

This weekend I did one of the best cleansing projects -- de-cluttering my closet!!

Here is what I do:

1)  Tackle the monster with an open mind.
2)  Start with the obviuos stuff I been secretly wanted to get rid off.
3)  I consider my current style and what has changed.
4)  I start three piles: keep, charity, maybes
5)  Things I keep in mind:  I need to make sure I have clothes for work, for casual stuff, for going out, lounge wear, sport wear, decent PJs and depending on the season I check what I did not wear on the previous season and what I may wear this season.
6) When in doubt try it on!

I do the same with my shoes, bags, accessories and jewelry [of course the really expensive/valuables are always a keep even if I don't wear them].  If you like to purge, like me, keep in mind you can't get rid of everything :-) if you are a keeper -- remember that the whole point of this project is to end up with less stuff than what you started with.

When in doubt always recruit someone you trust would be honest and have a good sense of style.  This time I tackled this project by myself - my sisters are my go to otherwise.  The folks from What not to wear said once that it is not a matter of quantity but quality.  That's my motto.

This is not an easy task so remember to:

Once you tried all the maybes you end up with two piles (keep and charity).  Getting it back on the closet is another challenge.  If you're too tired, just put things where they use to be and tackle the new closet organization another day.   However, I promise I will write another post with some ideas.

Any other tips on de-clutteting your closet?

My favorite yoga gear

I want to share my favorite yoga gear! I love doing yoga and when I need to kick myself back on track a yoga class is the perfect place to start.  Just what I need for my JULY 4TH Bikini Countdown.

Bra: Active from Old Navy -- I tried it once -- ok it was on sale -- and loved it.  It's super comfortable.  I just love it!

Top: C9 Tank -- It is nicely priced and has come back intact from the washer & dryer.  I found this brand at Target and really like their stuff.

Pants: Gap Fit -- I used them for running too and I have no complains.

Mat: The May by Lululemon -- There is a long story behind this mat.  I had another mat that I really liked, but it just got TOO dirty TOO quickly.  I tried all kinds of cleaning products, using a towel (slipped all over the place) until I had enough.  I did a massive search and decided that if there was one thing to splurge on was the mat.  And so, I landed in Lululemon and got this AMAZING mat.  I highly recommend it.  It's the best out there.  At least in my humble opinion.

Bottle: CamelBack -- E is a loyal customer at REI and I always go into the store thinking there is never something for me there, yet  I always mange to come out with something.  Well, on one trip I got this bottle.  It has a filter inside and I can just fill up my water from anywhere and I am good to go.

And there you have it!  I admit that I used this outfit for running too.  If it works
why not. :-)

Count-down begins!

Hello --

It has a couple of hectic days. A wedding, hosting a BBQ, gardening (not so fun), work.......
A lot going on for sure. I officially think I need a vacation.

When I woke up this morning and weighted myself, I realized I am a little over my ideal bikini weight. Then it hit me!!! I am going to wear a bikini during 4th of July weekend. So... I have minus six days to kick myself back on track.

There is a blog I follow called "From OK to Ideal" if she can get her countdown ready for a Hawaii trip -- so can I.

Here are my tools:
- train with app Runtastic
- track eating consultion with MyFitnesspal
- keep track of sleep & steps per day with the UP bracelet
- go to yoga!

I know is less than a week but challenge accepted.

Other than that... Keep a good attitude. Any other tips?

From my closet!

Hi,

Last day at Licensing Show was a hectic one. Starting at 7:30am breakfast all the way to dinner ending at 9:30pm. I am grateful to have had this experience. This morning thanks to time difference I've woken up at 5:30am giving me enough time to exercise and get ready for my flight. However, I wanted to share what I wore on the last day.

Skirt: Banana Republic
Blouse: The Limited
Shoes: Payless

Thanks for reading. I will touch base back from Philly.

From my closet!

hi,

I am in Vegas this week for work, attending The Licensing Show. In my line of work this is quite the important conference. Deciding what to wear was a little bit of a challenge. At work we are more business casual so little by little I have changed my work attire. I was not sure if I was going to be able to come, so when my boss said "you are coming" my first question was - what I am going to wear for three days? I can figure it out for one but three in a very hot weather environment. Yikes!!!
Well, I forgot to share day 1 -- dark pants with a top. But here is day 2 outfit:

Top and Skirt: The Limited and that includes the belt.
Shoes: Payless -- and they are SUPER comfy.

Thanks for reading!!!

TIP --- Original wrapping

Hi,

I wanted to share the wrapping of the latest baby shower I attended. Basically I got my friend something from her baby registry on Amazon.com. Which, by the way, if you don't have kids is the best they can do for you. Baby R Us is not registry friendly if you don't have kids. Honestly, I hate that store. I can never find the stuff people register for and the staff is not friendly. At least to me. :-(

Anyway, I got her this very large tub. I pair it with a kit of JnJ baby shampoo, cream, etc and was planning to put a big bow and call it a day. Well, E passes by and tells me "are you not going to wrap that" I felt so guilty not wrapping it and of course it was too late to go buy one of those massive present bags. I got from last Christmas - thanks to Pinterest - brown packing paper, a whole role. That was literally the only thing I had in the house that could cover this tub. While trying to wrap this large, not easy ... shape I decided why not stitch the ends... well it worked:

Before:

After:

What I used:

Hole punch, ribbon, scissors and packing paper.

1) Covered the tub leaving the sides open
2) Hole punched the sides making sure the holes where made around the whole package
3) Threading the ribbon through the holes closing the sides.  Careful not to pull too hard - you may ripe the paper
4) Make sure you thread the ribbon across the package

At the end I made a little bow.

My present looked the part. phew!!!

any cool ideas on how to wrap weird items?

Thanks for reading.

It is all about the shoes

Hi,

Today I got a promo for shoes from Anthropologie. Oh my!!! how many choices and how unique and cute.

This store is quite incredible. It is a bit pricy for my budget but there is something cute for me or the house. They seem to be very environmental friendly and their style is a bit bohemian.  While I am not that bohemian their unique pieces always grab my attention and usually a complement. :-)

Looking at the shoes I was taken away by all the choices. I know I cannot get all the ones I like. Not to mention the lack of room within my closet. But for me shoes are a crucial part of an outfit and they can make you look polish in an instant. I also love flats... while pumps always make you look taller, polish and well put together, flats give me confident that I can walk for hour. ;-) and look cute too.

OK... here are the shoes from Anthropologie.com that I like:

any favorites??? I love the wedge espadrilles...

what about you?

Hi,

I am just getting back from a very fun baby shower. E and I were both invited. It started at 2PM - we got there about 3PM and we left at 9PM. Yup! You can say we  had fun. It was basically a get together where the house happened to have baby shower decorations and you happen to bring a present. But, other than that it was good food and great drinks.

I wore this:

By the way do you like the new look of the blog?

Recipe App

Hello,

I like to cook, yet I don't love to cook. In which case I do rely on recipes - easy ones - and that I can complete in less than an hour. I admit that by reading the recipe sometimes things don't come out like the picture so guided pictures help me big time. In my search for a cool new app I found video guided recipe app from allrecipes. I love their site but this app is awesome.

Just last night I did the broiled tilapia YUM! and very healthy.

Do you have any favorite recipe apps???

Hello fellow readers. I was kind of sad today and the "Quote of the Day" came in....

"Happiness is a direction, not a place."

Sydney J. Harris

It is so true ... however, I did manage to eat a chocolate chip cookie with Nutella on top. YUM... probably not a proud moment but I am certainly on the direction to happiness.

From my closet!

The weather has been a bit crazy. Yesterday was about 80's today barely hitting mid 70's. Where I work they have the AC going and it's freezing, maybe because today is not that warm out. Any way, this is an outfit that makes me feel comfy yet looking stylish.

To dress this up I would add heels and a bulky necklace. But for today, I am keeping it casual.

Top: Ann Taylor
Jeans: Banana Republic
Shoes: Gap
Watch: Swatch
Bracelets: I mixed my UP bracelet with a Gap bracelet and a present from family. Mix and match is what I do for accessories.

To the mat!

I can't wait for the work day to be over. I found a new yoga studio --- hurrah!!!

Let me explain my excitement. For about a year I was regularly attending a yoga studio. I simply loved it there. There was a an intermediate/advance class I used to go to that the teacher was simply amazing, and I honestly believe he help me improve my practice. Well, out of the blue the studio decided to close. I had such a hard time finding a studio that would be near my house and that the schedule would work with my schedule. It was sad.

Last week a friend mentioned that a new studio just opened up in my area and when I checked it out online my favorite teacher is teaching there. Yay!!! AND... the class schedule works with my schedule -- double YAY!!

So to start preparing for tonight's yoga class, let me leave with a very wise quote:

Tracking your food intake and sleep!

I got last Christmas and UP Jawbone bracelet. Here is the link to the official site: https://jawbone.com/up

In laymen terms this bracelet tracks your daily steps, and with a press of a button tracks your sleeping pattern. Which is pretty cool. However, you do need to pair it with the app in order to track it.

My sleeping pattern from June 3.

It can also track you mood and your food intake. However, I rather track my food with the "my fitness pal" app. Which happens to sync with the UP bracelet and discounts the exercises.

I have to admit tracking holds me sort of accountable for my actions.  At least to me when I see the results for skipping that donuts at the staff meeting I feel that I won a little victory. And, it feels great not adding that to the tracker. Not to mention making updates at home to get the most amount of zzzs per night.

This is what my day looked like yesterday. (yay!! I waked more than 10K steps)

What tools do you use to track your daily food intake and sleep?
