I was not able to capture my outfit today but to keep things funny and fresh my sister sent me the link below.  It's hilarious.  I have own cats all my life and they are cute and very interesting creatures.  They do come up with the craziest things.  I just love how free-spirit they are.

When it works. 

I had an important meeting and I wanted to look my best.  It started getting cold so I got the tights out.  I got tons complements on this outfit and yet it is such a simple one.  I felt confident and ready to tackle anything.

It's a casual Saturday!

I love nothing more than a NOT plan Saturday.  What I mean is not having any concrete plans and while there is a "to do list" to tackle it is not a priority or a MUST do now.  I was lucky my lab allowed us to sleep today.  I thinks it is an official record.  We let him out at 6:50AM gave him food and by 7AM I was back in bed. Until, I naturally woke up at 10AM. It was awesome.

Any way,  after breakfast and a little bit of mediocre run (yeah! it was a weak run but at least I give myself credit for going out) I dressed up to ran some quick errands.

Carpe Diem!

A few post ago (here) I was telling you about one of the many mantras I repeat to myself "Carpe Diem".  Well, it only seemed natural when Banana Republic put this sweater on sale that I went on and buy it!  You see how I tricked myself to buy it? But hey it's pretty, makes me feel happy and it looks great! Well, I will let you be the judge of that.  

Yes I had to aim the picture a different way so that you could see the sweater. Darn for self portrait with an iPhone. :-)

A day at work!

Today I wanted to try my new awesome booties from DSW.  The look I was going for was work smart.  Not sure if I got that as I felt I needed to add some color.  And that I did with yellow!  While I am more close to a small frame type body, I like bold necklaces, big glasses and all those thing people think a small type person can't wear.  However, I put them on and just go.  Honestly when in doubt just don't look in the mirror and go! Ok do peak. You don't want to look like a crazy person.

App Review

Hi. 

I am a sucker when it comes to quick ideas or learning how to do something. However, I admit that in most cases I may not actually do the craft or prepare the recipe. But something knowing how it could be done makes me feel empowered.  

Apple send out an email few weeks ago promoting apps that work well with iOS 7.  As an app lover I had to check it out.  And so I came across Snapguide.  Regular folks post step by step - with pictures- on how to do all kind of things.  It goes from recipes, electronics, design, fashion..... You name it. 

It amazing how talented people can be.

I will let you know when and if I tackle any of the awesome ideas.

I got the necklace! Remember the post "It's a Deal!" Well the order came in and I LOVE it! It was exactly what I was expecting.  I got so many compliments and I still can't believe I got it on such great deal. :-)

I wore to work with a very simply attire.  It was all about the necklace.

TED - App review

Hello fellow readers!

I am still making changes to my blog.  The idea is to provide you with the best experience I can.  And, hopefully entertain, inform, provide ideas, generate new ideas.... who knows.  I like doing posts and hopefully you can help spread the word to your friends... just a thought!

Well today's mantra is:

Bring it on! 

We cannot control what lives brings but we can certainly control how we feel and act.  That brings me to the app review.  I am not sure if you're familiar with TED.  It's a site that provides clips of very well-known speakers in all kinds of fields to share their advice, comments, etc. on a specific topic. They basically say "ideas worth spreading".

I wanted to be able to see these clips on my train ride commute so I downloaded the TED app on my iPhone.

I have to say there is unlimited resources to help you gain new knowledge.  I heard this morning a monk (Matthie Ricard) talking about "The Habits of Happiness".   Basically, we need to work at it like anything else.  And while no one wakes up saying they want to be depress, we still need to work on our feelings and how we deal with our emotions.  At the end, it's about acknowledging our feelings and he, of course, talks about meditation.  It's 18 min long but it was worth it!

I believe I've mentioned that my office environment could be a bit more casual.  I've been trying to dress for the job I want by trying to bring it up a notch.  But some days you just want to wear jeans.  Today was one of those.

It's a deal!

Hello fellow readers! 

By now, you may have noticed that most of my wardrobe combines common retail stores. Few items are unique but mainly stores like GAP, Banana Republic, The Limited, etc. are my go to stores.  However, there is a boutique online that have awesome accessories.  I am talking about Ily Couture. 

 

I not only check out the awesome accessories, I follow their blog "Hello Fashion."   She is awesome. I highly recommend you follow her too. 

Well, a religious ritual of mine is to check out Living Social and Groupon.   If you're not familiar with these sites, what they do is offer all kinds of deals near your community (restaurants, spas, etc.) or overall merchandise (clothing, accessories, electronics, etc.)  Well, Living Social was offering an Ily special and I almost flipped as this is the exact necklace I've been chasing - just wanted to purchase it for less than $68. And.... I only paid $16 + shipping

I got mine in  red and wanted to share the wealth with you.

Today it's a lazy day at work. Not many meetings to worry about which means I have more time to actually work.  For those that work at an office environment probably understand what I mean.

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

No secret that Friday is my favorite day of the week.  It's even easier to get out of bed on a Friday.  Today it feels like Fall is upon us (sniff-sniff) so instead of being upset I am embracing it with bright orange blazer!

Fridays are casuals and while I am trying to dress up I really wanted to wear jeans today.  In order to do that, I need to look the part and a blazer does just that.

Is little Friday - that's what I call Thursday :-)   Almost the end of the week - YAY! Can't wait for this week to be over. I think I am still in vacation mode.  Not good for a work week.  Nonetheless, today I felt bright and sunny so I had to wear something that matched my mood.  And... still keeping the theme of dressing for the job I want.

App review

Hi.

I am not a morning person.  Waking up is a task and is not until I am fully awake that I can probably handle a conversation.  I usually have been waking up either by my adorable dog - needing to go to the bathroom -  or the annoying sound of the alarm clock.  I have tried waking up to music and while that helps it is still a daunting task to wake up.  

I found an app called "wake-up" and I am hooked.   (pro-version available with more sounds here) 

In laymen terms it simulates a sunrise and you wake up listening to birds, etc. I love it!  funny it's been twice I thought that I woke up thinking that the apps did not work and it's already morning -- to realized it was the app making the morning sounds.

Hi,

Today's outfit is a tab boring.   I am trying to dress for a job with more responsibilities.  In which case,  I need to look the part. :-)  however, I know I can make it more fun .  Today, after a long weekend I honestly was in no mood to think.  I literally wanted to stay home. ... hopefully, you know what I mean.

So my new dress motto is "fake it until I make it. HA! who knows I feel sharp and the goal is that everyone in the office starts looking at me that way.  We will see after a few weeks if that sticks.

I am not lost!

Hello fellow readers,

I was out and about in Florida with E for few days.  It was such a great time and I certainly caught up on some necessary shopping. YAY!!!

Today I had an odd experience. I am almost positive a random guy took my photo.  Sooo weird out!

I was sitting quietly playing Candy Crush (of course who is not addicted!) and I felt the intent look.  I glanced up and his phone camera just happens to be aiming at me. He acted quickly to move his phone which made me think he took my photo.  :(  Well if you see me somewhere I should not be PLEASE let me know.

It's a long work day today! 

Hi - 

I hope everyone is doing well today.  It's Tuesday and it looks like quite a busy day for me today.  In which case, I wanted to be super comfy and yet look the part.  You know what they say "dress for the job you want not the job you have".  After seeing these pictures I pulled my hair up into a bun.  Guess the humidity is back!  LOL - which I love 'cause I am not ready for Summer to be over. :-) 

When I have long days ahead I usually try wearing something that makes you feel good yet comfortable.  For me that means nothing too clingy or tight.  Since I work in an office, I don't walk too much. But I do try to wear shoes I can stand on them all day.  Thank for wedges! I love flats but heels always make an outfit more elegant and when you want to look the part, flats don't fit the bill. That's my humble opinion.

Aww remembering the warm weather!

Hi,

Today feels like fall in Philly.  I am absolutely NOT happy about it.  Summer is by far one of my favorite seasons and when the calendar still says August - I am in no mood to wear jackets or sweaters.   :) 

I wanted to share one of the outfits I wore in sunny-very-warm Houston.  Boy I really miss it today!
